Forestry Careers

Promoting awareness of the New Zealand forestry sector.

The New Zealand forestry industry is growing and so too is its need for forestry workers. A recent programme, implemented by the New Zealand Government, to plant a billion trees by 2028 is just one of the contributing factors for this increased need to recruit new staff members. The brief was to inform and educate on the wide and varied job and learning opportunities available within the forestry sector, as well as provide important safety information. A workshop was held amongst various forestry sector workers from contractors to Wood Council representatives, and from this an in-depth plan was drawn up outlining key subjects that were essential to the core content of all design outcomes. The overall look and feel needed to appeal to a large age range, with a particular focus on school leavers. With this in mind the branding was bought to life with a bright colour palette, use of icons and short snippets of key information which were applied across various marketing collateral including an online information portal, stationery, and also a specifically designed forestry themed careers coach which tours schools nationwide offering up to date careers information via its interactive kiosks. The physical act of ‘stepping into’ the bus drove the tag line ‘Into the great outdoors?’ and other accompanying statements.
